STANLEY F. VAN GUNDY
Stanley F. Van Gundy died at his home in the Broadview Towers onSaturday.
Mr. Van Gundy had worked for the Santa Fe Railway and later was acustodian at Neosho Rapids High School and a maintenance departmentemployee at Emporia State University. He had been retired about eightyears.
The son of Newman and Anne Getner Van Gundy, Stanley F. Van Gundywas born July 23, 1918, at Neosho Rapids. He married Joan Thomas inEureka in 1939. She died in 1972.
Mr. Van Gundy is survived by a son, Mike Van Gundy of Emporia;two daughtrers, Judy Adkins of Emporia and Jerrilea Leu of Wichita;five grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. Two brothers, HarryVan Gundy and Bert Van Gundy and two sisters, Bernice Hartenbower andRuth McCall, died earlier.
Mr. Van Gundy was a Methodist. He served in the Navy duringWorld War II and was a member of the Ball-McColm Post 5 of theAmerican Legion and Lowry-Funston Post 1980 of the Veterans of ForeighWars. He also was a member of the Hartford Masonic Lodge.
The funeral service will be at 3:30 P.M. Wednesday atRobert-Blue-Barnett Funderal Home. Burial will be in Neosho RapidsCemetery.
His grave has a military marker and inscription:
