Verda L. Purvis, 90, of Nevada died of complications of diabetes atStory County Long Term Care, Nevada.
She was born in Nevada to Vinton I. and Dagmar (Jensen) Appelgate. Shemarried Fay Purvis on July 20, 1921, in Des Moines. She was a memberof Memorial Lutheran Church in Nevada. She was a sales associate atBond's of Beaverdale in Des Moines and also worked for W.L. Tipton andSon in Nevada. She lived for seven years at Story County Long TermCare after moving from Des Moines.
Survivors include a son, Dr. James Purvis of Lexington, Mass.; abrother, Donald Appelgate of Nevada; a sister, Helen Robinson ofNevada; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Fay; adaughter, Shirley Cernik; a brother, Claude Appelgate and a sister,Vivian Reder.
Funeral services will be held Friday at Cooper-Ryan Funeral Home inNevada with Dr. James Purvis and Pastor Daniel Solomon officiating.Burial will follow in the Nevada Municipal Cemetery. Memorials may bemade to Memorial Lutheran Church, Nevada.
