"My John Drake is a close match to the Isle of Wight Co. VirginiaDrakes but is NOT a descendant of this line. I suspect that the Drakeline in northern Virginia is his line and that both lines connect inEngland before 1600. Each line descends from a Richard Drake whosailed out of Bristol. The Isle of Wight line is from Richard Drakeborn about 1615. He sailed in 1658 and the baptismal records for hissons have been found in South Petherton, Somerset, England dated 1647and 1650. The other Richard Drake was born about 1630 and may havearrived in northern Virginia as early as 1661. His son, Henry Drakeborn 1665 is documented. I believe that my John Fulton Drake is theson of Henry Drake's youngest son, Francis born about 1715."
