"Capt. Martin served in the US Army from 1812-1814 and a veteran ofthe W ar of 1812. He was in Capt.John Dillars's company, Col JamesGoodwin's r egiment and Gen. Taylor's brigade. He was a Capt of a 24Pound gun at C raney Island, Virginia. He re-enlisted and served from1844-1847 in the S licker's War of Missouri. After the death of hisfirst wife Belinda he m arried Alice Conn and moved to Lincoin Co.Missouri in 1841 where he wa s living when he passed away. "
