John C. Chitwood.
"His father's name was Stephen C. Chitwood. He came from Lincoln Co.,T ennessee. He was once a man of wealth, but he indorsed for hisfriends t o a very large amount, and his estate was sold to pay thesesecurity de bts. His mother was a daughter of Parker Campbell and aniece of Archer C ampbell, now dead, but formerly of this county. Ithink he was elected t wice a member of the Legislature. She was bornin Virginia. Her father m oved first to Madison County, Alabama, andthence to Lincoln County, Te nnessee, where she was married. StephenC. Chitwood died in 1875 and hi s widow in 1877. They had firstsettled three miles south of Moulton, a nd afterward moved nearertown, where they died."
