Lexington, Ky in 1932; he said
"William Campbell married Elizabeth Crump in Bedford Co., Va. Feb. 28,1 785. About 1788-1792 he may have gone to Ky. but did not think so,as l and grants do not show him there, but do show his brothers Samueland J ohn--Samuel being Mr. Andersons ancestor. They were sons ofWilliam and R ebecca (Caldwell) Campbell of Bedford Co., Va. Rebeccawas a duaghter o f Thomas Caldwell, and Williams grandfater was SamuelCampbell who came f rom County Derry, Ireland, and died in DerryTownship, Lancaster Co., P A in 1747. William Campbell and his brotherJohn served in the Bedford C ounty Volunteers, Battle of PointPleasant. William Campbell followed t he "Goose Creek" route of theearly Scot - Irish from Bedford Co., Va. t o Stokes Co. NC and thenceto Madison Co., Ala. Williams brother marrie d Judith Clark.
From the Bedford Co., Va. Records, Order Book 1786 - 1790. Sept. 22,17 88. Ord. that Nathan Reid, Harry Buford, Tho. Campbell and WilliamCamp bell or any three of them be appointed to appraise the estate ofGross S cruggs, dec'ds."
