"I, too, am a descendant of Blount (Arthur). While digging around work( I work at a museum), I ran into a copy of an old deposition given byBr idget Arthur regarding things she had overheard when her husband,John, w as alive. John apparently ran a tavern and a ferry justoutside of New B ern (then spelled Newbern(e))and seems to have died afew years before t he deposition was given. Bridget testified that sheheard members of th e General Assembly discussing plans not to attendmeetings as far away a s New Bern and Wilmington again and, throughdoing so, stop the effecti veness of the government."
A follow-up messaage adds:
