A following posting solves the mystery:
"In Christos Christou and John Barnhouser book, The Descendants ofJohn A rthur of Bedford Co., VA (b. abt. 1707, d: abt 1793) (125Wiltshire Rd. , Baltimore, MD 21221-6935
notes by author, September 1994, pp 2, 4-5, 10-13, states thatBenjamin 's parents, Ambrose b: abt. 1708 in Ireland -- the fourth(4th) Arthur b rother, and his wife Keziah Hargrove, daughter ofAugustine Hunnicutt H argrove and Mary Lane, were killed by Indiansand he was raised by his u ncle William Arthur (1713) and aunt AnnMurray Arthur (1717). Benjamin w ould marry William and Ann MurrayArthur's daughter (his cousin) Anne A rthur (1741-1777) on April 23,1765.
Joseph Hargrove was bound to Benjamin Arthur on February 14, 1760 inCa roline Co., VA as found in John Frederick Dorman, Caroline County,VA O rder Book 1759-1763. Thomas Arthur (1710), Benjamin's uncle, wasJoseph H argrove's guardian, and Joseph bound Joseph to work withBenjamin. Jose ph was a minor brother of Benjamin's mother Keziah.Benjamin was raised b y his uncle and not his grandparents, AugustineHargrove and Mary Lane H argrove even though they lived closer, andthere were stories that Old A ugustine was not "right in the head."
