Thelma was the daughter of John Clyde (JC) and Ruth Cleveland CarterBo bbitt.
She was valedictorian and 1930 graduate of Chapin High School,attended I llinois College two years and graduated in 1953 fromMacMurry College. S he taught five years in Morgan County ruralschools, one year at Meredo sia Grade School, and 24 years at firstgrade in Versailles Grade Schoo l.
She married George N Coulson in Hannibal in 1931 and he died in 1994.T hey farmed many years at the edge of Versailles and he also workedat N ational Starch and Chemical at Meredosia and was a director inthe Farm ers and Traders State Bank(now Prairie State Bank) inMeredosia and Sch uyler-Brown Services Co. After their retirement ,they traveled extensi vely, visiting the Canadian provinces and all ofthe lower 48.
She is survived by Tom (Joan) Coulson of Griggsville; fourgrandchildre n, Mark (Judi)Martin of Winchester, Alex Martin ofMacomb, Warren Couls on of Griggsville and Tyler Coulson of Iowa City,IA; three step-grandc hildren, Robert (Robin) Oitker of Pittsfield,Randy Oitker of Griggsvil le and Vicki(Jerry) Varner of Breckenridge,MI; a sister, Eleanor(the l ate Dave) Willis of Saginaw, MI; fournieces in Michigan and Ohio; five n ephews in Michigan and Florida;and numerous great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two sisters; Trixy( the late John) Smith of Flint, MI, and Verla (the late Ed) Bryant ofDe ase Lake, MI; two brothers, Clyde (Bea) Bobbitt of Burton, MI; andDale ( the late Betty) Bobbitt of Gladwin, MI.
Services were May 1 at 2p.m. at Chapin Cemetery.
