"Nancy is buried at Antioch Bapt. Ch on Antioch Church Rd. off of Hwy.1 7, and 985. She has a stone and there are white flowers on the stoneth at I put there Easter. The stone reads: Nancy wife of Francis S.Powell D eparted 7-18-1856.
Francis remained in Habersham Co. and died somewhere between 1878-80.H e owned over 700 acres at the time of his death and 2 minor childredin h is custody: Tallulah and Mary S. His will was probated in 1880and the g uardian of the 2 children went to a Mr. Shirley. By the timethe girls b ecame of age, Mr. Shirley had sold all of the land andonly had $70. to g ive the girls and they took him to court, therecords are at the Hab. C ourthouse. I do hope that we are talkingabout the same Francis. I just c annot find his headstone. I am tryingto reach the lady who is in charg e of the cemetary records. I believethat he is buried beside Nancy and M r. Shirley did not spend themoney to put up a stone."
