Notes for Benjamin Howard BOONE


In The History of Greene County, Missouri is:

"B. H. BOONE, (deceased). Mr. Boone was the grandson of that famouspio neer, Daniel Boone. His father, Col. Nathan Boone, was Daniel'syounges t son, and an officer in the regular U. S. army from 1812until the tim e of his death, in 1855. His son, B. Howard Boone, wasborn in St. Char les county, Missouri, March 16, 1814, and waseducated in the common sc hools of that county. He came to Greenecounty in 1836, and lived here u ntil 1868. He was married in 1840 toMiss Mary E. Stallard, of St. Char les county. Their union was blestwith five children, three of whom are s till living, viz.: Joseph,Charles and James. Mr. Boone, after leaving G reene county in 1863,was engaged in the hotel business in St. Louis, b ut shortly after hemoved over to Illinois, remaining but a few months, a nd then returnedto St. Charles county, Missouri. He is a Mason, in goo d standing, andhelped organize the lodge at Greenfield, Missouri. He d ied February7, 1866. His estimable wife survives him, and is now livin g at AshGrove with her son, J. D. Boone. J. D. Boone was married in 18 67 toMiss A. E. McClure, of St. Charles county. Their marriage has bee nblest with six children, four of whom are living, viz.: Edna G., Laura B., Mary E. and Joseph D. Mr. Joseph Boone remained in St. Charlesco unty two years and returned to Greene in 1869. He moved toMontgomery c ounty in 1874, where he lived five years, returning tothis county in 1 879. He and his wife are at this writing, keeping thepopular Grove Hou se at Ash Grove."
