Miss Patience Powell died April 17, 1879 from Scrofula (TB infectionof t he skin of the neck-lymph nodes). A short time before her deathshe ask ed her mother, Mary Ann Elizabeth Vickery Powell, "not to weepfor me, I 'm going to heaven".
