6/11/1880 Same place. That census taker listed him as Joseph Witter,4 2, with Penina, 36, Jersey Ann, 14, Cassie Dell, 12, Nannie Virgil,11, A lice Jane, 9, Myrtle O, 6, and Rutherford H, 3. He was stillfarming. T he lived between John Witter with the aged parents andStephen Witter o n the other side.
6/7/1900 Still there. Recorded by the census taker were JosiaWitter, 5 1, married 36 years to Peninah, 57, with 8 children but only5 were sti ll living. Still at home were Myrtle, 26, and Robert HayesWitter, 23. J osiah was a farmer, Robert a farm laborer. Two doorsdown was Andrew W itter, two doors beyond him was Peninah's nephew S TNewman. On the pr evious page was William Witter.
5/7/1910 Same place. By the next census Josiah Witter, 71, had losth is wife and was living with the family of daughter Alice and NewtonAll oway. He and Allowey were both employed as general farmers. TheAllow ays may have moved in with him as many of the neighbors seem tobe the s ame.
1/12/1920 Still there with Alice Alloway who was herself a widow but8 1 year old Josiah was recorded as grandfather. It was probablygrandso n Roy Witter next door.
