"In case you didn't know Levi M. Current who resided in Stephens Co.,Texas was a brother of Henry French Current. Both were sons of MartinCurrent who had resided in Vermilion Co. Ill. I have a quit claim deedto support that. Levi M. Current of Parker Co. Texas was the son ofHenry French Current. The two Levi's were uncle and nephew. Levi theUncle married Calthey Gibson. Levi the nephew married Mrs. EmalineAndrews."

Sam Gilbert posted at the Ancestry:

"My greatgreatgrandfather Elisha Elzy Christesson left MO and arrivedin Denton Co Tx, where my greatgrandfather, Elisha Levi was born. Elzymarried Margaret Gibson who was the daughter of Adles Gibson and OrphyPierce. Would appreciate having information regarding the Gibson's,also.

Elisha Elzy Christeson settled near the present town of Breckenridge,TX in 1860, was later joined by his brother-in-law, Levi Current, andstarted the settlement of Picketville.Tx....

My grandmother said they put pickets up around their houses to wardoff the indians, thus the name Picketville."

"Levi Current and Green Cox Shoot Indians West ofBreckenridge

Levi Current had moved from Picketville to old Mugginsville, and hadreturned for his chickens, etc. Early one morning during 1864, LeviCurrent left Picketville with an ox-wagon full of chickens and otherthings and was followed by Green Cox in another wagon. When the twowere about one and a half miles west of the present city ofBreckenridge, they were surrounded by about ten or twelve Indians, whoin truly Indian fashion, rode around the citizens in a circle, andcontinued their firing. Green Cox was somewhat excited, but Levi
Current told him to be calm, take deadly aim and shoot an Indian. Coxcomplied with the request and when he fired, an Indian fell. LeviCurrent also wounded a savage. The Indians saw they could not frightenthe citizens, had a real fight on hand, and rode away with
their wounded. About four days after this fight, G. E. Christessonfound where an Indian had been buried about three miles from where thefight occurred.

"Joe F. Schoolcraft and Others Fight in StephensCounty in 1869

About 1869, Wm. Cain, Joe F. Schoolcraft, Levi Current, John Carter, and three or four others, while out stock-hunting, about eighteenmiles northwest of old Picketville, and about two miles from the ClearFork, near Flat Top Mountain, discovered about twenty Indians, whowere afoot and no doubt, on their way to the settlements to stealhorses. When they were charged by the citizens, the red-men ran into ahole, where they could not be seen. Occasionally, however, an Indianwould raise up, shoot, and then duck down again. Several
shots were exchanged, but since the Indians had every advantage, theycould not be dislodged.
