HENRY R. WOLFE, (Salt Rock Township) deceased, was a worthy pioneer ofG rand Township, and settled there in 1835. He was born in AdamsCounty, P enn. in 1800, and while yet a young man came to MarionCounty. He had t hen a wife and three children. His wife died in 1839.and he was marrie d in 1840 to Studia Baker. He died October 23, 1879,leaving a widow an d six children in comfortable circumstances. He wasmuch respected as a c itizen, and had held at different times nearlyall the township offices , and was Justice of the Peace for nineyears. He was a member of the M ethodist Church. He moved to Salt RockTownship in 1850, where he died a t his homestead. His father was asoldier in the Revolutionary war.

They hada l arge family consisting of Sarah, 20, Margret, 18, Jerome B, 16,Nelson, 1 3, Abraham, 5, and Mary, 4. The parents and first 3children were born i n PA, the rest in OH. Henry and Jerome werelaborers, neither had any r eal estate. They were the only Wolffamily in the county.
6/21/1860 Grand Prairie Twp, PO Marion, Marion Co, OH. Recorded intha t census were Henry Wolfe, 60, Sarah, 56, and Jerome, 26, all bornin P A; plus William, 23, Abraham, 17, and Mary, 14, born in OH.Henry and t he boys were farmers, Henry's property totaled $4500/1900.
