From Hanover Co, VA court records held in the home of John Mask, Jr:
The minutes of July 1774 read:
"Friday morning court met according to adjournment. Present, CharlesMe dlock, The worshipfull James Pickett, William Bluett, Esqrs Orderedtha t Benjamin Dumas be appointed overseer of the road, in the room ofJohn M ask Junior." (The meeting was in John Mask's home.)
The minutes of January 1775 read:
"Ordered that a road be laid out the nearest and best way from Huwarryt o Anson Court House to cross Pee Dee at William Pickett's Plantationan d falling into the Salisbury road at Savanah Creek and that WilliamPic kett, James Hutchins, David Dumas, Benjamin Dumas, CorneliusRobertson, J ohn Mask Junr., James Pickett, John Ingram, Owen Ingram,Moody Ingram, A braham Belew, Nathaniel Ashley and Shadrick Denson, bea Jury to lay ou t the same and make report there of to the nextcourt."
