"ADAM COONROD was born November 20, 1848, in Springfield Township,bein g one of ten children born to William and Susanna (Stilwell)Coonrod. A bout 1834, William Coonrod came to this township, where heentered eigh ty acres, which he immediately began to clear. He wasmarried in Pickaw ay County, but returned and erected a cabiii on hisland, and also adde d to his farm until he numbered 120 acres. In1851, he sold this and pu rchased another of 196 acres, adding againuntil it aggregated 336 acre s, on which he died in May, 1868. AdamCoonrod was brought up on the fa rm. In 1871, he bought sixty acres inthis township, on which he lives. H e was married August 15, 1872, toMary E. Shaeffer, .to which union thr ee children have succeeded—EvaM., John W. and Charles L. Mr. and Mrs. C oonrod are members ofSpringfield Grange and of the Methodist Episcopal C hurch ; he is, inpolitics, a Republican. Mr. Coonrod's father and moth er were nativesrespectively of Pickaway County, Ohio, and of Virginia ; M rs. Coonrodwas born in Defiance County, Ohio, the daughter of John W. a ndElizabeth (Armberger) Shaeffer, natives of Indiana and Pennsylvania. "
