10/8/1850 Dist 71, Polk Co, MO. Recorded in that census were farmerJ ames M Jump, 30, wife Nancy, 22, his two children from the firstmarria ge: Margaret, 9, and Nancy, 7, plus his and Nancy's infantson, John, 8 m o; all were born in MO. Next door were probably hisparents, John and E lizabeth Jump, follwoed by Nancy's brother, VanZumwalt.

7/25/1860 Greene Twp, PO Sentinel Prairie, Polk Co, MO. The familyha d grown by next census time. Listed there were James Jump, 42,Nancy, 3 6, John, 11, Mary, 10, Henry, 5, George, 4, Hulda, 3,Margaret, 17, and N ancy, 5. (Nancy being listed out of sequencesuggests she was not a da ughter but perhaps a niece.) James was afarm laborer with $100 worth o f personal property only.
