Notes for Joseph Daniel REAGAN


Joseph Daniel Reagan was converted and joined the Methodist EpiscopalC hurch, South. He became an exorter when 18 years of age.
In 1852 he emigrated to Missouri. He was married to his wife by DavieC oulter, pastor of New Bloomfield Prebysterian Church in CallowayCounty , Missouri.

He was ordained as a minister in the Methodist Episcopal Church, Southa t Jefferson City, Missouri in 1867, having been appointed pastor ofLeb anon Circuit. Two years later he resided at Stoutland, where heremaine d except a short residence in Richland until his death.

He was a man of good literary atainment, being a forceful and eloquentp ublic speaker, a vigorous and fluent prose writer, a successfulteacher , and a poet of considerable ability.

'The funeral was held at the Baptist Church in Stoutland, Missouri, byE lder J. M. Hibbs, of the Baptist Church, on Saturday, January 24th,189 1, in the presence of most of the family and a large congregationof sy mpathizing friends and acquaintances. The remains were interredSaturda y evening in the Stoutland Cemetery.'
