In thehousehold w ere wife Mary, 22, son William H, 1, and two farmlaborers, Christopher H awk, 18, and Charles Sandford, 15. On theprevious page of the census w as the Henry Binkley family. (SeeMary's brother Jefferson for details o f the relationship.) The onlyGundys in the county were John and Barba ra, age 34 & 26, both born inBaden who may have been relatives from th e old country.
8/8/1870 Bonhomme Twp, PO Ballwin, St Louis Co, MO. By next censusti me the family had moved west. The family included Wm Pfister, 34,Mary , 32, Phoebe, 9, John, 7, Brewster, 5, and Dorothea, 3. Williamwas st ill farming, his property totaled $3000/800. In Central Twp,same coun ty, were Mary's brother Jeff Vangundy and sister Elizabethand John Dau tel.
6/9/1880 Same place. That year William F Pfister, 43, was a farmeran d county assessor. Mary was 41, the children were Phoebe W E, 18,John , 16, Brewster, 14, and Dollie, 13. John Hollenburg, 48, farmlaborer w as counted there too. Phoebe was born in OH, the rest ofthe children i n MO.
6/25/1900 Still there. The census recorded Wm F, 63, married 42years t o Mary, 62, who had birthed 5 children but only 4 stillsurvived. Daug hter Phoebie, 39, born in KY, was still single andprobably caring for t he old folks. Living with them was MaryAnderson, 15, servant. Willia m's occupation looks like fruitcommisioner.
5/5/1910 Same place, on a chip street road called Olive St. Thatcens us taker listed William F, 73, Mary E at 72, married 52 yearswith 5 ch ildren but one was deceased. At home with them were Phoebe,49, and wi dowed daughter Dorothy McKay, 43, who had been married 17years with 2 c hildren, J William 16, and M Sydney, 11. ServantDaphne Benton, 63, li ved there as well. Phoebe's birthplace wasagain KY so was probably co rrect. William McKay was born in Canada,Sydney in Wisc. The senior W illiam was back to farming, Dorothy wasa public school teacher.
