3 December 1764, Jane Gholson signed a deed granting to her son Johnfo r her lifetime the slaves Tom, Bob, Venus, Phillis, Judey, Creece,Ben, L ittle Tom, Cupid, Mary and Billy, all of which had been left toher by h er late husband Anthony for her lifetime. After her death,the slaves w ere to be returned to the other children. Witnessed byRobt. Johnson, N at. Geer and Elizabeth Geer. Proven in court 5 April1765.
