In the 1790 census for Back River, Upper Hundred of Balto. Co.,"Elieza h Chilcoate" was
shown as head of family, with two males of 16 years and upward (whowas t he other one?), one male under 16 (probably his son John), andone fema le (presumably his wife). Elijah was appointed Ensign in theBaltimore M ilitia on 18 June 1794. As "Elisha Chilcoat," he waslisted in the Balt o. Co. Militia Registration of 1794, indicating hewas between ages 18 a nd 45. (Others named on the same page were Robt.Curran, Geoe. Ensor an d Mordecai
Cole.) Elijah Chilcote (that's the spelling he used in an 1821document ) [may have] d. in 1826, before 30 Oct. (Rudi Bethke'sresearch finding s).
