Meets Death When Auto Goes Over Embankment Near Boulder Lake
Sad in the extreme was the death of Mrs. Lucille VanGundy, whichr esulted from an automobile accident on the evening of November 19.Mrs. V anGundy and William William Wehman were returning from Boulderin Mr. W ehman's car. When near Boulder lake an approaching car turnedtheir lig hts full on the Wehman car in such a manner as to totallyblind Mr. Weh man and his car ran over the embankment at the side ofthe road. Mrs. V anGundy's skull was crushed and she lived but a fewhours after being t aken to the Boulder hospital.
Lucille Channell was born in Colfax, Iowa, March 1, 1895. Whensev en years of age she moved with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. GranvilleChan nell, to Colorado Springs. After residing at that place for sixyears t he family moved to Lafayette which has since been their home.Here Luci lle grew to womanhood and was educated in the publicschools, and gradu ated from the Lafayette high school. On May 15,1915, she was united in m arriage to Clarence Ernest VanGundy, whopreceded her in death August 1 4, 1917. To them was born one child,Venora Lois now aged two years and w ho survives her mother.
Beside her little daughter she is survived by her parents, fivesi sters and four brothers. Funeral services were held from the homeof he r sister, Mrs. Robert Mason, Friday, November 22, conducted byRev. R. C . Boss, and burial was made in the Lafayette cemetery.
Lucille was buried in a plot owned by Granville Channell.
