Mason Oliver "Doc" Wert (25 March 1849 - 03 July 1914) earned amedical degree in 1878 and a law degree in 1884 but practiced medicineas a country doctor and never married.

Funeral services for Dr. Mason O. Wert were held Tuesday morning, at 9o'[clock, from the Wert homestead, near Lemert, conducted by Rev. M.T. Ayres, of Burbank. Music was furnished by the Benton UntionedBrethren church choir. The pallbearers were: A. Shiefer, levi Diehl,Peter Ranck, Reno Seery, Isaac Shiefer and Scott Hazlett. Intermentwas made in the Sycamore cemetery.
