Notes for Curtis B WILSON


From Biographies of Fulton County, Illinois:

"Curtis B. Wilson was born in Whitley Co., Kentucky in 1822 and nextsh ows up getting married to Fannie Collins in Coles Co., Illinois in1844 . In the mid 1850's, they move to McDonough Co. and live therefor a sh ort time before moving to Fulton Co. Curtis served in theCivil War, du ring which Fannie died in Fulton Co. and is buriedthere. After the war ( 1867), he married Francina Walters in FultonCo., where they had two gi rls. Francina died in May 1872 and isburied in Fulton County. Curtis d ied five years later and is buried(for some reason!?) in Hancock Count y, IL.

Walters, lived inFulton Co. f rom about 1835 to his death in 1872, and was related tomany of the pio neer Walters of Fulton County"]"

9/23/1850 Greesy Creek Twp, Coles Co, IL. At census time the familyl ived in the same neighborhood as the Collins families. Curtis B was28 b ut no occupation or property was listed. Fanny L was 21 andtheir 3 ch ildren were Mary, 5, Sarah, 3, and Alace J, 7 months. Twodoors down w as Watson Collins followed by Aaron Collins.

McDonough Co, IL

9/18/1860 PO Marietta, Lee Twp, Fulton Co, IL. Having moved beforethe n ext census Wilson was 38, born OH as was wife Mary, 30, andtheir first 2 c hildren, Mary, 15, and Jane 13. The rest of thechildren, all born in I L, were Thomas, 11, John 9, Eliza, 7, andDouglas, 1. Also living there w as John Collins, 60, born PA, laborer.(Was he Fanny's father rather t han Adam?) Curtis was a farmer with$800 in real estate, no personal p roperty valuation listed.

7/16/1870 Cass Twp, PO Cuba, Fulton Co, IL. Recorded in that censusw ere Curtis Willson, 45, born IN; second wife Francina, 27, andchildren J ohn, 10, Kate, 8, and Jennie V, 2, all born in IL. He wasa farmer but h ad no property, real or personal.
The 1860 census says he was born in OH but descendants say KY.
Daughter Olena was born in 1870 and living with half sister MaryMcGehe i n 1880, daughter Jennie, 12, was living with half-sisterAngie Couch on t he same page 1880.
