McElvain, John McIlvaine, son of Andrew McIlvaineColonis t at Coolspring, Sussex County, Delaware, was said to havesold his far m at Coolspring and moved to Pennsylvania. The countyrecords at Norris town, Pa., show that John Mucklewaine bought land ofJohn Russell in Ch eltenham Township, Montgomery Co., Pa. in 1754.This man Russell had a n umber of land dealings in Sussex Co., Del.and in Somerset Co., Md. Pen nsylvania Archives, Second Series, Vol.XV, p. 768 shows that John Muck lewaine was registered as an IndianTrader in Lancaster Co., Pa. 1743 a nd because of the early dateappears to have been the same John. James M cAllister and HughMcKnight were registered as Indian Traders at the sa me time.
