From the Past and Present of Vermilion County, IL:

"Thomas Francis Christman. cashier of the Commercial Trust & SavingsBa nk of
Danville, was born June 7, 1858. in Warren county, Indiana. He is ason o f Isaac and
Elizabeth (Gundy) Christman. natives of Ohio, and on the maternal sidet he ancestry
can be traced back to Jacob Gundy, the great grandfather, who was asol dier of the Revo-
lutionary war. Emigrating westward, he became a resident of Vermilionc ounty at
an early date, settling upon the north fork near the old town of^lyers ville. The grand-
father, Joseph Gundy, was a charter member of the Masonic Order ofDanv ille. By oc-
cupation he was a farmer and stockraiser. being connected withagricult ural pursuits
in this county at a very early day. The father of our subject wastaken b y his par-
ents to western Indiana when four years of age and was reared inVermil ion county.
He, too, became a farmer by occupation and established his home inRoss t ownship.
Avhere he carried on farming for three years. He then returned toIndi ana, where he re-
mained for several }ears and then again came to Vermilion county,Illin ois, where he re-
sumed farming. He is now living a retired life, making his home inRoss ville at the age of eighty years, his birth having occurred inJanuary, 1 823. His wife, who was born in the same year, passed awayin 1882. They w ere the parents of nine children, of whom Thomas F. isthe seventh in o rder of birth."
