This indenture made this twenty seventh day of June in the year of ourL ord one thousand seven hundred and ninety six and in the twentiethyear o f the United States of America; Between Mace Pickett of onepart of Cou nty of Orange and Ben. James Powell and easter his Wife ofthe other pa rt; Witnesseth that Mace Pickett in consideration fo thesum of Fifty p ounds current money of Virginia to him in hand paid byBen. James Powel l, the receipt whereof Mace Pickett doth herebyacknowledge and confess h imself fully satisfied and paid according tobargain that therefore do d ischarge Ben. James Powell and easter hisWife during her natural life a nd after her death to be sold and togive two years credit and the mone y to be equally divided amongst allher Children or Child, and if my Da ughter, Easter, shall die withoutChild or Children then the land also t o be sold as above, and Ben.James Powell to have fifty pounds of the m oney the land sells for todispose of as he pleases agreeable to his ow n will and pleasure andthe balance to return to me and my disposall as I t hink proper as Iam fully satisfied agreeable to bargain of Ben. James P owell andEaster his Wife have and by these presence do bargain and sel l untoBen. James Powell and Easter his Wife agreeable to the above wri ttenbargain, one certain parcel of land containing One hundred acres lying in County of Orange and Colony of Virginia and bounded, Beginninga t a red Oak and Chesnut in a line of said Picketts, thence No. ninedeg rees East thirty two poles to three Chesnut Oaks, one white Oak ona St ony Ridge, thence East twenty poles to two white Oaks on a Hillside, t hence NO. eighty five degrees East sixty one poles to twoLocusts on a R un, thence No. twenty nine degrees East fifty six polesto a white Oak a nd Chesnut Oak in another line of said Picketts onthe Ridge thence wit h said Ridge East eighty poles to a Spanish Oakon the said (omitted) t hence South sixty seven degrees East eightypoles two two white oaks, c orner to ben. Winslow and Jacob Anderson,thence South forty eight degr ees West one hundred and fifty six polesto a red and white Oak in Wins lows line thence North forty ninedegrees West to the beginning. . .In w itness whereof Mace Picketthath hereunto set his hand and seal the day a nd year within written.

Powell h is heirs a certain parcel of land containing Eight anda half acres lyi ng in County of Orange and bounded Beginning at aChesnut and red Oak, c orner to Ben. J. Powell and Wm. Eaton, thencewith Eaton's line South s ixty four degrees East seven poles to aChesnut Oak, thence South thirt y three degrees East six pole to awhite Oak, thence South twenty four d egreees East thirty six poles toa Chesnut, thence South forty degrees E ast ten poles to a Chesnut,thence South fifty seven degrees East sixty t wo poles to a Pine,corner to sd. Eaton, thence North thirty six degree s East ten polesto a red and white Oak on a Road, corner to Benja. J. P owell, thencewith sd. East 20 poles to a white Spanish and Chesnut Oaks, thence South 77 degrees East 32 poles to twoChesnuts, t hence N. 55 degreees E. 26 poles to a white Oak on top ofa Ridge, then ce S. 30 degrees E. 44 poles to red and white Oaks,South 55 degreees E . 32 poles to a red and white Oak, S. 24 degrees,E. 28 poles to a Gum a nd white Oak Stump, thence S. 67 degrees E. 80poles to two white Oaks, c orner to Jacob Anderson, thence N. 33degrees W. 15 poles to the begini ng. Eighty nine acres, together withall appurtenances to the same belo ng: To have and to hold the tact ofLand etc. etc. Given under our hand s and seals this (blank) day ofour Lord 1799.
