John O. and a small company went to California on March 12, 1850arrivi ng in the Sacramento Valley on July 24, 1850. In the census forEl Dora do County, California of 1850, is listed a John Coonrod, age19, a mine r.
He mined for six or eight months, then drove wagons and worked in ahot el. One record says he returned in 1852, another says he left forthe g old rush and was never seen again.
