Native of Clark County Succumbs After Long Illness of Paralysis.Sister o f Mrs. Henry Boone.

Mr. Henry Boone received a letter Saturday from his wife, who has beena t the bedside of her sister, Mrs. Susan Austin, announcing the deathof M rs. Austin on Christmas Day. She was 77 years of age and lived atHalls ville, Mo. Death was due to paralysis and gall stones, fromwhich she h ad been a sufferer for about 7 years. The funeral servicestook place a t the Christian Church in Hallsville Saturday. Mrs.Austin was a native o f Clark county and was the daughter of the lateJack Stubblefield. She m arried a surgeon in the Confederate army andleft Winchester in 1863. S he is survived by one sister, Mrs. HenryBoone, of Winchester; four son s, Messrs. J.J. and Ben Austin, and Dr.Robert and Dr. Willet Austin, a ll of Hallsville: two sisters, Mrs.Katie Berry, of Hallsville and anot her living at Columbia, Mo. Shewas also an aunt of the late J.W. Olive r, of this city. Her husbandhas been dead about 8 years. Mrs. Austin v isited relatives here in1908 for the last time. She was a good Christi an woman and her deathwill be mourned by a large circle of friends. Sh e had relativesliving in Mason county.

Hallsville

Mrs. Susan Austene died at the home of her son, B.P. Austene, atHallsv ille, at 8 o'clock, December 25, 1913, of a complication, ofdiabetes a nd paralysis, after an illness of ten weeks. She was thewidow of Dr. B enjamin Austene and the mother of seven children, ofwhom all survive: M rs. R.S. Tucker of Excelsior Springs, Dr. R.S.Austene of Hallsville, M rs. J.H. Berry of Hallsville, J.J. Austene ofCentralia, Mrs. Hampton R othwell of Moberly. Deceased was born inWinchester, Clark county, Kent ucky July 4, 1836, and departed thislife on Christmas day. She was mar ried to Dr. Benjamin Austene in1858 and came to Missouri in 1863. She u nited with the Christianchurch at the age of 16 years. She said if it w as the Lord's will shewould like to live longer, with her children, bu t she was not afraidto die, and that she had strong faith and full tru st in her Savior.Funeral services were conducted at the M.E. church So uth ofHallsville by Elder Swift of Centralia, assisted by Rev. W.W. Wi lsonof Hallsville, after which the remains were laid to rest in Red To pcemetery. Homer Wilson, Mr. McCaslin, William Carpenter, W.D. Hulen and wife, Mrs.
Daniels and daughter, Miss Bettie Divin of Centralia attended thefuner al of Mrs. Sue Austene, the 27th also Mrs. Dr. Cox of StephensStore, M r. and Mrs. Fount Rothwell, S.M. and Lee Stevinson ofColumbia.

Mrs. Susan Austene, daughter of Jack and Elizabeth Stubblefield, wasbo rn in Winchester, Clark county, Ky., July 4, 1836, died at the homeof h er son B. P. Austene in Hallsville, December 25, 1913, after anillness e xtending over a period of six weeks following a stroke ofparalysis. Sh e received her early training and grew to youngwomanhood in her native s tate and was united in marriage to Dr.Benjamin Austene March 18, 1858. F ive years later they moved toMissouri locating near Hallsville, where f or many years her husbandwas a practicing physician in this county, ha ving preceeded her indeath March 3, 1905. Besides her children she is s urvived by onesister Mrs. Henry Boone of Winchester, Ky who was presen t during herlast illness, also twenty-six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
