Berkley Parish, Spotsylvania Co, VA

10/21/1771 He and his mother Mrs. Catherine Stubblefield, gifted aneg ro slave by deed to his nephew Benjamin Stubblefield son of GeorgeStub blefield.

1/25/1773 Berkley Parish. He purchased 100 acres from Philip Pennand M artha his wife; John Holloday ,Sr. and Elizabeth, his wife; andUriah E dwards and Mildred his wife of Spotsylvania County for 100pounds curre ncy. The property was probably an estate that had beenheired to the c hildren and their spouses.

3/1777 Peter served as 1st Lieut of 1st Va Reg

6/12/1778 He resigned above commission due to bad health, whichaccord ing to county records was chronic dysentery.

2/22/1782 He bought 235 acres of land from brother George.

5/4/1784 "Peter Stubblefield and Pegge his wife of SpotsylvaniaCounty " sold the above 235 acres to John Herndon of the same countyfor 460 p ounds currency.

1/4/1785 Spotsylvania Co, VA. In preparation to moving to GA, Peterg ave power of attorney to brother George to handle his affairs in VA

Wilkes Co, Ga. Migrating south, Peter took along nephew Peter,George' s son, and raised him.

9/12/1785 Spotsylvania Co, VA. Peggy's father left 200 acres of landt o her and Peter.

1/2/1787 Peter and Peggy sold her inherited property tobrother-in-law , Thomas Coleman, Jr for an unspecified amount.

8/2/1786 Spotsylvania Co deed records state: "Peter Stubblefield oft he State of Georgia( at present in Spotsylvania County, Virginia) toGe orge Stubblefield of Spotsylvania County, Virginia150 poundscurrency, 1 n egro, horses, wagon, etc.

1793 He owned a Mill Pond on the Fishing Creek waters at the mouth oft he Broad River. In the deed book he was called Colonel.
His will, dated 10/17/1794 was probated 11/9/1794. In it his wifeMarg aret was to have the plantation, riding chair, harness, horse,and othe r items. He also mentioned niece Peggy Harrison Long andnephew Peter S tubblefield.

He appointed Executors as Evans Long, Thomas Haynes, Maj. NicholasLong , John Greaves, and Williain Walton.

Witnesses were: Andrew Allen, Zebedee Beall, and Thomas Haynes.

8/25/1801 STUBBLEFIELD, PETER deed. Evans Long and Wm. Walton, excrs.
Defendants, vs Peter Stubblefield complainant. They admit PeterStubble field made a will in Columbia Co. Oct. 17, 1794, and died thenext day, i n which he devised his estate to his wife Margaret, to hisnephew Peter S tubblefield, Complainant, and his niece Miss Peggy H,
Long. The valuable land which was left to the wife Margaret inColumbia C o., was sold for debt etc. They claim the Complainantslegacy can not b e paid.
