Notes for Jane BOYD


Mrs. Jane Campbell, who has been ill at her home in this city forsever al weeks, died Sunday moring, March 23rd. The funeral serviceswere hel d at the Methodist church in this city at 3:00 o'clock Mondayafternoon , Rev, Geo. W. Braden, the pastor, preaching the sermon.Interment was i n Prairie Grove cemetery: beside the grave of herhusband.

The Campbell family came to Kansas about fifty-four years ago and them ost of that time has been spent in Chase county. Mr. Campbell'sdeath o curred about ten years ago.

Mary Jane Boyd was born August 18th 1847 in Coles County, Ill. OnOctob er 19th, 1865, she was married to Jack Campbell, in ColesCounty, Illin ois where they lived for sometime after their marriage.To this union w as born ten children, four of whom, together with thehusband and fathe r, have preceeded her to the Great Beyond. Thechildren who have passed o n are Mrs. Joel A. Cooper, Andrew J.Camphell, Hattie May Campbell and M rs. Lizzie Young, The childrenliving are Robert Campbell, Americus, Ka nsas; Joseph Campbell,Cottonwood Falls; George Campbell, Elmdale; John W . Campbell,Cottonwood Falls; Mrs. John Mickeljerd, San Diego, Californ ia, andZack Campbell, Osawatomie, Kansas.

Early in their married life Mr. and Mrs. Campbell united with theMetho dist Church at Plymouth, Kanasas, she still being a member. Mrs.Campbe ll- was a loving mother and her visits to her differentchildren's home s were bright spots in their lives, as her sunnydisposition created an a tmosphere of happiness wherever she was.

Mrs. Jane Campbell Dies Early Sunday

Has Been Resident of Chase County Since Coming Here 54 Years Ago.

A resident of Chase County for 54 years, Mrs. Jane Campbell ofCottonwo od Falls, died early Sunday morning after a sickness ofseveral weeks. T he funeral services were held Monday afternoon at theMethodist church i n Cottonwood Falls and interment was in PrairieGrove cemetery. Rev. Ge orge W. Braden, pastor of the Methodistchurch, conducted the services.

Mrs. Campbell was born in Cole County, Ill., August 16, 1648, and camet o Chase County 64 years ago. She has lived here since. Five sons andon e daughter survive Mrs. Campbell. They are John and Joe Campbell ofCot tonwood Falls, George Campbell of Elmdale; Mrs John Mickeljerd ofSan D iego, California; Robert Campbell of Americus and ZachariahCampbell of O sawatomie.
