He served in the Civil War and according to pension records,son-in-law R ichard Geiger was his guardian at the time.

At census time JoshuaVangundy, 5 0, had a large family consisting of wife Rebecca, 47,children: Sara F , 17, John S and Joshua S, 15, Viola B, 12, Maudie,5, and Ada W, 6, as w ell as father-in-law Robert Mortimore, 75.Joshua was a farmer, Mortimo re was a laborer. Brother John J livedin the same township and Union T wp was second cousin Daniel VanGundy.
There are no dates on Joshua's stone but it does say he was a US Vet,C o "C" 31st Ohio Inf, GAR 1861-1865.
Also buried there was Sarry O Van Gundy, s/o JA & MA Van Gundy, d5/12/ 1881, age 10. Who was he?
