Her granddaughter Freda (Kothe) Bruck described her as very proper,lik e an English lady, and when she went to visit friends she left hercall ing card if they were not at home. Among her records is a letterMary w rote to her son Daniel on April 14, 1926, his fifty-firstbirthday, des cribing the activities she was doing while she waitedfor his birth. Sh e wrote on Nov. 3, 1926 to his wife Ann to say shewas not feeling well e nough to do anything but sit before the fire.She said she was weak and a nemic, and her feet and legs wereswelling, which sounds like the same p roblem her father suffered inthe Civil War.
According to her death certificate, Mary M. Kothe was born on June 13,1 845 to Dan and Catherine (Gundy) Weyandt in Harrison County, Ohio.She w as the widow of John Kothe. Mary was ill for a year, and forthree mont hs was under the care of Dr. Carr. Mary died on Mon. Dec.20, 1926 at 2 :30 PM in her daughter Charlotte Zerbe's home when shewas eighty-one y ears old, and the cause of her death was hepatic(liver) cancer. Her fu neral was conducted by Rev. J. M. Baxter,Pastor of Grace Methodist Epi scopal Church, Coshocton. Mary wasburied in the Kothe Vault, Union Cem etery, Uhrichsville, by R. K.Lindsey, Undertaker.
