Arthur, Justice of P eace, said John Arthur served inRevolution about 12 months and "died a r egular soldier in the army".
Isabella Mitchem, the wife of Benjamin Mitchem, states that she is 85y ears old in 1843. She states that she was married to BenjaminMitchem b efore, or in the early part of the Revolutionary War. Shealso states t hat John Arthur and Thomas Arthur, Jr., husband of SallyDixon, were sm all men and brothers and that John Arthur servered atour with her husb and and another as a substitute for her husband.This statement was wit nessed by a Silas Mitchem and Rhoda Mitchem.
