Gwen was Corresponding Secretary of the South Side Country ClubAuxilli ary bridge club and as such her name appeared in the newspaperoften as t he one to contact for reservations for various events.
She also played a lot of golf as evidenced in the following:
On 6/12/1929 a picture of her and 3 friends was in the newspaper aspar ticipants in the blind bogey golf tournament at South Side. Itsaid th ey were frequent visitors of the golf course.
3/11/1931 it was reported that Mrs. O.W. Diehl and Mrs. EverettVanGund y were appointed hostess for the next party of the South SideCountry c lub women's winter bridge auxillary.
Following Everett's death, she continued to live in Decatur.
