A.P. Hanna is a native of Fairfield County, Ohio where he was bornNove mber 16, 1831. His parents were John and Elizabeth Hanna, theformer a n ative of Cumberland County, Md., and the later of Virginia;the former o f Scotch-Irish, and the latter of German descent. Oursubject was reare d on a farm and adopted farming as his lifeprofession. At the age of t wenty-two he left home and began to workout by the month and year. On M arch 16, 1854, he was married to SarahA. Gundy, daughter of Noah and A nna (Line) Gundy. She was born inFairfield County, Ohio, in 1830, wher e she was reared. This union wasblessed with two children, Elida J. an d Wallace G., both of whom aremarried and living in this county. Mr. H anna located in this townshipMarch 31, 1860, and settled on the farm M r.Gundy lives on now. InAugust 1861, he purchased the farm on which he n ow resides, which wasthen almost all in the woods. Since his arrival, h e has developed oneof the best farms in this section. It consists of 1 20 acres, and hisimprovements are first-class. He began life a poor bo y, and when hewas married he only had $55, but can now be classed amon gJefferson’s most successful farmers. He is a staunch Republican, andf irmly believes in the principles of his party. He and his wife arememb ers of the United Brethren Church, with which they have beenconnected t hirty-one years.
