Notes for Simon STUBBLEFIELD


From the Stubblefield Family website, Early Stubblefields in America:

"The first Stubblefield to come to America that I can find is SymonStu bblefield b.1629 in England, d.1688 in VA. One story in my familyis St ubblefield brothers came to America and one of them was given aland gr ant of 50,000 acres in N.E. Virginea by the King of England.These stor ies may have been about Symon's sons."

England where he was born and raised.

Gloucester Co, VA. The date of his arrival in the new world isunknown .

3/27/1672 “a matter of difference between Ed. Cheesman and ThomasChee sman and Symon Stubblefield” was referred to “judgment inEngland.”

1674-1675 Symon served on the board for escheated lands in thecounty.

4/23/1688 He was granted 288 acres of county land for transportingfou r persons into the colony. The land was near the courthouse andadjace nt to the land of William Ross.

1704 Ware Parish, Gloucester Co, VA. He paid quit rents on 200 acres.

While there is no proof, Simon was probably the father of Edward andGe orge Stubblefield
