1822 Grandfather Berry left him $10 in his will.

11/29/1836 Shelby Co, IL was his address and his name was recorded asJ ackson when he purchased 40 acres of Moultrie Co, IL land at federalsa le. He paid $1.25/acre or a total of $50 for the property.

Local history recorded him as the county coroner.

12/5/1836 He bought another 40 acres for the same price.

11/7/1842 Shelby Co, IL. He and a John Berry, as well as IsaacPurvis , were among the purchasers at the Archibald Standifer estatesale.

1/9/1850 Moultrie Co, IL. He had finally moved to his property bythe t ime he added to it. He bought 4 more plots, a total of 200acres, at a f ederal sale, still for $1.25/acre.

1850 Moultrie Co, IL. Lewis and Noah Berry were both listed oncensus r ecords without a township, the only two Berrys in the county.

1/13/1853 Moultrie Co. His address was listed as unknown when he got8 0 more acres by warranty deed.

1860 Jonathan Creek Twp, Moultrie Co, IL. The census that yearrecord ed Lewis' home at Twp14 R6 E, same as Enoch C and William Berrywhile A dam Berry was nearby and Mary Berry was in Sullivan. Lewiswas 45, a f armer whose property = $3600/500. Living with him wasthird wife, Dulc ena, 35, their 2 daughters, Margaret C, 4, and SarahR, 3, plus 3 Steve ns step-children, John, 14, Nancy, 12, and Nathan,10.

6/27/1870 Sullivan, Moultrie Co, IL. That year Lewis was 59, stillfa rming with property valued at $1600/960. "Didama" was 46 and thechild ren living there were Mary E, 15, Sarah R, 13, Catherine, 10,and Henry J , 7.

At one time Lewis owned land near the Van Gundy curve near Sullivan.
He married that year.
