"From Mrs. Ruth Dowling: Here at last is the truth about Abner Womacko f Lincoln County, North Carolina. It comes from the 'NationalArchives' , and was Abner's own statement when he made application forPension fo r Revolutionar War Service.

He was born in Prince Edward County, Virginia, January 7, 1764.Residen ce was Lincoln County, North Carolina, when he enlisted. Movedfrom the re in 1797 to that part of Lincoln County, later designatedas Butler C ounty, where he resided when applied for pension. GeneralAccounting Of fice at Washington shows pensioner died February 14,1845. Arrears of p ension due were paid to J. H. Rhorer as attorneyfor Abraham Womack, Ex ecutor of Abner Womack."

Abstracted by the late Mrs.Nellie P. Waldenmaier, genealogist, ofWashi ngton,DC:
ABNERWOMACK - NC (born in VA) File No. S 30804:- Butler Co., KY, 12Nov 1 832 - `personally appeared` Abner Womack aged 68 years.Enteredservice b y draft, 1780, in Lincoln Co., NC, was privateunder Capt.Jacob Collins , Lieut. French, Ensign Joseph Beaty,Col. Arrington`sRegiment. Rendezv oused in Lincoln Co., NC,marched to Charleston, SC,arrived in Charlest on early in April where he was placed under Brig.Genl. McIntosh. (Long d etails ofservice.) Altogether he served twomonths and 2 days, all the t ime in militia. Was discharged. Served asecond tour of threemonths in m ilitia. In Dec 1781, he joined acompany of Mounted Rangers as a substi tute for Reuben Petty of BurkeCo., NC.Marched to Upper Fort in Burke C o., engaged in scoutingindifferent parts of the State for protection a gainst theIndians.Sometime in Feb 1782, he received a discharge, signe d byLieut.Davidson, which he has lost. He was born in Prince Edward Co .,VA, 7 Jan 1764; lived in Lincoln Co., NC until 1797 when he moved to Logan Co., KY, to that part which is now Butler Co.Received a pensionof $ 24.44 per annum.
Letters of inquiry concerning pensions of Abner and William Womackfrom O . B.Womack, Route 4, McMinnville, TN in 1916, and from Mrs.B.Bentley, W est Main St., McMinnville, TN. (no date).

1790 Lincoln Co, NC. According to the census that year Abner livedju st down the road from his father "Abram Womac." Abner's householdinc luded 1 male over 16, 1 male under 16 and 2 females.

1800 Morgan Twp, Rutherford Co, NC. It seems the whole family hadmov ed by the next census, all living in the same area. He was Abner"Womm ack" and his house held 5 males under the age of 10, Abner at26-44, 2 f emales under 10 and 1 at 16-25. (Ages of children do notagree with li sting for his family.) Living in the area were Abraham,Anderson, Jame s, Louisa, William, and Josiah.

1810 Butler Co, KY. Having moved again, his family included 2 malesu nder 10, 1 aged 10-15, 2 at 10-25, Abner was over 45, 3 femalesunder 1 0, 1 at 16-25, and 1 26-44. He was the only one by the namein the cou nty but there were Reeds....James, John, Moses, and Robert.

Abner Womack (Sr.),Willis Hargrove, and a McReynolds were partners ina s alt well business in Kentucky.

1820 Morgantown, Butler Co, KY. That year Abner and James were theon ly "Wamacks" in the county. Abner's family consisted of 1 maleunder 1 0, 2 were 10-16, Abner was over 45, 2 females 10-16, and 1 at26-44.

1830 Butler Co, KY. He and son Lewis lived in an unnamed townshiptha t year, according to the census while son Abner lived atMorgantown. A bner's age was incorrectly recorded at 26-45. Livingwith him were 1 m ale under 10, 1 at 10-16, and 1 female, also 26-45.

1835 Abner filed for a pension for his service in the NC Militiadurin g the Revolutionary War.
