8/7/1820 Franklin Co, TN was where the next census taker found thefam ily and recorded John with a large family: 2 males under 10, 1age 10- 16, 1 at 16-18, 1 was 16-26, John was over 45, 2 females under10, 3 at 1 0-16, 2 age 16-18, and his wife was also over 45. Sevenpeople were en gaged in agriculture. Twenty-three slaves were countedthere as well: 5 m ales age to 14, 3 to 26, 2 to 45, 1 was over 45, 7females to age 14, 3 u p to 26, 1 to 45, and 1 was over 45. He willed11 of those slaves to h is heirs.
John's will was dated 6/30/1825 and said:
In the name of God amen. John B. Palmer of Franklin County and Stateof T ennessee being weak in body but perfect mind and memory thanks beto al mighty God calling to mind that it is appointed for all men onceto die d oes make and ordain this my last Will and Testament revokingall others h eretofore by me made.
First I recommend my Soul to God who gave it and my Body to the Gravea nd as touching such worldly estates wherewith it hath pleased God tobl ess me with in this life I give and bequeath the same in thefollowing m anner (to wit).
First I will that my Executors and Executrix hereafter named pay allmy j ust debts from my apd. estate as I have heretofore endeavored todo in m y lifetime.
Second I give and bequeath to my oldest Daughter Margaret now MargaretW eddington one negro Boy named Bruce in addition to two othersheretofor e given namely Barberry and Rhody.
Thirdly I give and bequeath unto my Second Daughter Eliza Palmer threen egros namely Mariah, Fanny and Jacob, one mare named Julia, two cowshe r equal with my Daughter Margaret Weddington at the discretion ofmy be loved wife.
Fourth I give and bequeath to my third Daughter Hannah now HannahWeddi ngton one negro boy named Judson in addition to two othersheretofore g iven one a girl named Harriet and a boy named Richmondand other proper ty making her equal with my aforesaid two daughtersMargaret and Eliza a t the discretion of my beloved wife.
Fifth I will and bequeath to my GrandSon John P. Weddington one negrob oy named Joe also my Rifle gun and accouterments.
Sixthly I will and bequeath to my GrandDaughter Sarah R. Weddington an egro girl named Mary.
Seventh I give and bequeath unto my beloved wife Sarah Palmer all ther esidue of my real and personal estate during her natural life freelyto e njoy and occupy and at her death to be equally divided between mythree d aughters Margaret Weddington, Eliza Palmer and HannahWeddington and th eir children.
Eighthly I do hereby make constitute and appoint my trusty friendsGeor ge Gray Esq. and William L. Weddington together with my belovedwife Sa rah Palmer Executors and Executrix of this my last Will andTestament m aking void all and any other heretofore by me made writtenor verbal ra tifying and confirming this my last Will and Testament.
In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my Sealthis t hirtieth day of June in the year of our Lord one Thousand EightHundred a nd Twenty five 30th June 1825.

His tombstone is inscribed "In Memory of John B. Palmer Who departedth is life Oct. 1825 Aged 51 years."
