6/28/1860 Same place. At census time that year he was 33, a farmerwho se property totaled $500/100. Elizabeth was 37 and the householdconsi sted of children : George, 9; Mary A, 8; Eliza M, 5; Josiah J,2. Dau ghter Martha, 12, was listed with Josiah's parents.
8/18/1870 Finley Twp, Scott Co, IN. Had the family moved or didtowns hip lines shift? The census listed Josiah at age 44, his estatehad bl ossomed to $1500/300. Elizabeth was 42 and children in thehouse were M artha, 24, George, 19, Mary, 17, Margaret, 14, Jackson,12, and Amanda, 9 .
6/8/1880 Same place. Josiah, 56, was still farming at census timeand i n the house were wife Elizabeth, 60, and children George, 30,Margaret, 2 4, Josiah J, 22, and Amanda E, 13. Both boys were farmlaborers.
6/20/1900 Still there. That year at census time Josiah was a 73widow er and living with him were Eliza M, 44, George, 50, andgrandson Simeo n J Richey, 12. Who were his parens? Several Richeyswere neighbors b ut were either too young or too old to be Simeon'sparents. Josiah was s till farming with George and Simeon as farmlaborers.
