"Benjamin, son of Robinson Chilcote, settled on a farm in Claytontowns hip, Huntingdon county, Pennsylvania, near Three Springs. He wasa farm er and miller, conducting for several years a mill at Saltillo.He marr ied Comfort McLain, who died in Cromwell township, March 4,1844. Benja min Chilcote died July 31, 1854, aged about ninety-sixyears. Children : E lizabeth, died unmarried ; Nancy, marriedChristian Moore ; Mary, marri ed Samuel Hicks, and died March 29.1868; William McLain, of whom furth er; Sarah, married Henry Huntsman;John, died in Orbisonia, Huntingdon c ounty; Susan, married (first)John Cornelius, (second) Joshua Kelly.

Previous to 1797 Salisbury, also known as Chilcotestown, was laid outb y Benjamin & Roberson Chilcote. The plan of the lots was recordedFebru ary 22d of that year. Lots were sold at twenty dollars (sevenpounds te n shillings) each. When the village was laid out threebuildings stood o n its site, only two of which remain, and one ofthese is used as a sta ble."
