Descendants said his name was William Franklin but census records sayHenry.

6/14/1880 Jackson, Lyon Co, KS. The census found the family livingthere, recording Henry Daley at age 27, a farmer born in IN, hisparents both in Switzerland. In his family were wife Melissa, 22,born OH, father in OH, mother unknown; and youngsters Arthur, 5,Eunice, 3, and Arminta, 1, all born in KS. Also counted there washired man, 18 year old Milton Brashear,

6/20/1900 Same place. In that census were Henry Daily, 52, bornGermany, married 28 years to Malissie, 42, who had given birth to 10children, all living with them: Arthur, 25, Eunice M, 24, Aminda L,22, Joseph, 19, Okly H, 17, Mattie, 14, Charles V, 12, Bertha E, 9,Johnie, 6, and David F, 3, all born in KS. Henry was a farmer, Josepha farm laborer; Eunice and Aminda were servants but unemployed 6 & 9months respectively.

4/22/1910 Still there. The census taker recorded Henry Daley, 67,born Germany, immigrated in 1856 and naturalized, married 37 years toMissalise, 52, who had birthed 10 children, 7 of them still living butthen listed 8: Eunice, 34, Esther, 26, Mattie, 24, Charles, 22,Bertha, 19, John, 16, Frank, 13, Henry, 7, and grandsons whosesurnames were listed as Foster but then marked out: Henry, 7, Donald,6, Joseph, 4, Hommer, 2, and Arthur, 1. Melissa and the children wereall born in KS. Henry was employed as a general farmer; Eunice'soccupation is unreadable but she worked for a private family; Estherworked as a dressmaker in a shop; Charles and John were farm laborers.The county was full of Daily/Dailey families from Germany as well asseveral Van Gundys.
His birth date is from his obit, however, cemetery records say he wasb orn 12/12/1847.

Death: Feb. 5, 1918

Henry Dailey died Friday at 10 o'clock of brights disease andpnuemonia at the home of his son Joseph Dailey of Rosean.

Mr Dailey was born in Strasbourg Germany September 16 1843 and came toAmerica when a child with his parents. The family lived in PeruIndiana , where Mr Dailey grew to manhood. In 1868 he moved to Topeka,and joined a company that was employed by the government for two yearsto issue rations to the Indians in the Dakotas. the remainder of his(life) was spent in L yon County.

He was married May 11 1873 to Miss Mallissa Van Gundy, and she withnine children, survive him they are Charles John Frank and Bertha allof Neosho Rapids Mrs Stanley Sedgwick, Reading; Mrs Roy Goff BataviaIowa; Mrs Ira Gentner Neosho Rapids, and Joseph Dailey of Rosean, onedaughter Mrs Charles Foster died eight years ago,
He also is survived by two sisters Mrs Caroline Ward,and Mrs JamimaAckerman both of San Antonio Texas.

The funeral will be held Friday at 2:30 o'clock at the Chicago MoundCh urch. internment will be at the Chicago Mound Cemetery.
