"During the ten years closing with 1777, we find Jacob Dickenson belowB randywine....George and Francis Evick had come to the Evick Gap.George D ice was a neighbor to them, and Jacob Conrad and George Kilewere below t he Ruddle postoffice." (Jacob's daughter married aGeorge Kile, possib ly son of this man.)
Jacob and his family took advantage of the many land grants available,a massing quite a chunk of georgraphy among themselves. Severalgrants c arried his name but some of those could actually belong tohis son, Jac ob, since grandsons were also listed.

On this sixteen day of February before me Daniel Smith one of theJudge s of the General Court personally appeared Jacob Conrad agedabout sixt y-six years, resident in the said county of Rockingham whobeing by me d uly sworn according to law doth on his oath make thefollowing declarat ion in order to obtain the provision made by thelate act of Congress e ntitled 'An acot ro provide for certain personsengaged in the land and n aval service of the United States in theRevolutionary War' that the sa id Jacob Conrad on the 10th day ofJanuary 1777 at the Red Stone settle ment on the Monongahela river (atthat time considered doubtful whether i n Virginia or Pennsylvania) heenlisted in the company commanded by Cap tain Benjamin Harrison of the13th Regiment of the Virginia line on con tenental establishmentcommanded by Col Rupell that he continued to ser ved in said Regiment,until he was transfered to the 9th Regiment of th e Virginia line oncontinental establishment commanded by Col John Gibs on-that thecompany was afterward transfered to the first Regiment of t heVirginia lin on continental establishment commanded by the Col John Gibson-and that he continued to servin in said corps in the service oft he United States until the 25th of July 1783 when he was dischargedfro m service at Pittsburg in the state of Pennsylvania (whichdischarge be ing produced to me in hereto summons) that he was in thebattles of Bra ndywine and German Town and that he is in reducedcircumstances and sta nds in need of the assistance of his country forsupport and has other e vidence now in his power of his saidservices-sworn to and declared bef ore me the day & year aforesaid.

Many more affidavits are included in the file but are too blurry andov erwritten to read. On letter address to Mary Conrad in Columbus,OH da ted 10/24/1939 says:
"Dear Madam:
Reference is made to your letter relative to Jacob Conrad, a soldierof t he Revolutionary War.
The record of the only Jacob Conrod, all spellings of the namessearche d, that is found on the Revolutionary War records of thisoffice is fur nished you herein as found in the papers on file inpension claim, S393 61, based upon his military service in that war.
Jacob Conrod, the name is also shown as Conrad, was born in August17?? , day, place and the names of his parents are not given....

He was allowed pension on his application executed February 16, 1820,a t which time he was a resident of Rockingham County, Virginia.
In 1821 soldier had no children living, or any family except his wife,h er name and age are not stated. There are no further family data.
Jacob Conrod died Jun 3, 1824, place not shown.....
Signed A B Miller, Executive Assistant to the Administrator."
Another inquiry from Mary to the Veteran's Administration mentions her eceived a warrant of 100 acres for his service.
Some say he was born in "Sweeden."
Rev War Pension records say he died 6/3/1824 but since his will waswri tten later, that is incorrect.

Exectors: sons Jacob and Ulrich Conrad.
Witness: John Hedrick, Frederick Hedrick, Adam Hedrick and Z. Dyer.

He is listed as Jacob Conrad in cemetery records.
