"MURDOCK. — James Murdock was born and raised in Dublin, Ireland,but c ame to America prior to the devolution, and took an active parton the A merican side in that war. In one of the battles in which hewas engaged h e. received a severe wound in his heel, and died fromits effects two y ears afterward. He had seven children — Nancy,Grizey, Mary, James, Ale xander, John, and George. Nancy married JamesClay, who settled in St. C harles county. Alexander settled in St.Charles county in 1806, and mar ried Mary Zumwalt. John married LucyGrider, and settled in St. Charles c ounty. George married CatharineKennedy. James married Lydia Bell, and s ettled in Missouri in 1808."
