Isaiah didn't waste courting time after Melinda's death. He remarriedin November, 1859.

"For your information - A charming circa 1885 photo of eight of IsaiahWert's handsome grown children appears on the cover of the Jan-Feb1988 issue of Everton's "The Genealogical Helper" magazine, submittedby a family member then living in Austin, TX. (For details, pleasereference issue).
It should be noted that Mason Oliver Wert and Thomas Jefferson Wertwere children of his first wife, Belinda Van Gundy. The mother of theothers in the photo was Lucy Jane DeLong.
Pictured were:
1. Nancy Elizabeth "Libby" Wert (30 July 1861 - 7 Sept. 1942), whospent her life on the farm where she was born and never married.
2. William Schultz "Will" Wert (04 March 1863 - 3 Dec. 1950) was aMethodist minister. In 1897 he married Mary Elizabeth "Mame" Wolcott(08 Dec 1873 - 30 Nov. 1963) and they had six children.
3. Hannah Martha Wert (22 Jan 1866 - 16 Aug 1953), (the submitter'smaternal grandmother). In 1891 she married James G. Tuttle (21 Dec1860 - 16 Jan 1936). They also lived in Crawford Co. OH and raisedseven children.
4. Wilbur Brown Wert (13 May 1864 - 25 Nov 1942) never married. Hestayed at home and farmed.
5. Mason Oliver "Doc" Wert (25 March 1849 - 03 July 1914) earned amedical degree in 1878 and a law degree in 1884 but practiced medicineas a country doctor and never married.
6. James Edward "Ed" Wert (04 Sept. 1867 - ?) became a lawyer andpracticed in Toledo, OH and Mount Clemens, MI. He married MargueriteCleveland; they had no children of their own but adopted a boy whodied in the early 1920s.
7. Florence Belle "Belle" Wert (30 July 1869 - ?) married B. FrankUnderwood (1873-1947) and they had four children.
8. Thomas Jefferson Wert (26 April 1856 - 7 Oct 1914) was a Methodistminister. In 1890 he married Eva Hawk (1871-1954) and they had threechildren.
Another family member, Mrs. Nell (Wert) McLucas (born 13 Nov 1891), ofLewisburg, PA, was still living in 1988."

6/2/1860 Holmes, Crawford Co, OH. By the next census, Isaiah, 42,had r emarried to Lucy, 32. The family had increased to includeGeorge W, 16 , Frederick H, 15, Alvah, 13, Mason O, 10, Sarah A, 9,David, 6, and Th os J, 4. Isaiah was a farmer with property worth$1500/530.
