She graduated from the University of Illinois and taught school inrura l Mourtrie Co schools for many years. She never married.

Funeral services for Mary Elizabeth Leeds, 91, of Sullivan were heldat 1 0:30 am Tuesday in the Reed Funeral Home in Sullivan with theRev. Henr y Graham officiating. Burial was in Greenhill Cemetery inSullivan.
She died at 4:15 a.m. Friday, March 29, 2002 in Eastview Terrace inSul livan.
Mary Elizabeth was born May 11, 1910, the daughter of Carl Griffin andL illian Beatrice Purvis Leeds. She was a graduate of the Universityof I llinois, had been a teacher in rural Moultrie County schools,worked fo r many years in the Moultrie County Public Aid office,worked for the W PA during World War 11, was a charter member of theHistorical and Gene alogical Society of Moultrie County and a memberof the Retired Teacher A ss.
Surviving are her cousins, David S. Purvis of Sullivan, Dulcena Walkero f Las Vegas, Nev., Joyce Sharp of Sullivan, Wilma Hollonbeck ofSulliva n, Eloyce Carnes of Decatur, Louise Drechsler of Atlanta, GA.,Elmer Le eds Jr. of Oregon, Ill. and Richard Leeds of Foley, Ala. hergood frie nds, Mary Lou Kidwell and Bill and Elaine Wampler, all ofSullivan; and n umerous second and third cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
