One civilian a nd some militiamen also implicated him inrobberies and horse thefts by s everal bushwackers, including those heallegedly welcomed to his house. B rother, Allen, may have been theindividual involved since he was shot b y Federal militia at the homeof one of the implicated guerillas named F agin.
George was eventually tried on charges of spying for the Confederatean d stealing horses for the rebels, convicted, and incarcerated in StLou is and Jefferson City, from where he was eventually released.
