"LYMAN P. WALTER, M. D., was born in Crawford County, Ohio, January24, 1 857; he is a son of Jeremiah and Jane (Barrick) Walter, nativesof this c ounty and of Pennsylvania respectively. His parents weremarried in Cra wford County, where they still reside. Their childrenare Alice, Lyman P ., Dora E. and Scott. Dr. Walter obtained therudiments of an education a t the district school, subsequentlyattending the Union School at Bloom ville and closing his literarystudies at the Otterbein University, of W esterville, Ohio. He taughtone term of school at the age of thirteen, a nd after completing hiscollegiate course at Westerville began the stud y of medicine with Dr.Jerome Bland, of Benton, Crawford County. He aft er. ward entered theStarling Medical College, of Columbus, at which he g raduated in 1879;he practiced one year as assistant surgeon of the St. F rancisHospital, and then located for six months at Mexico, this county ,moving to Upper Sandusky in November, 1881. Dr. Walter was married January 1, 1879, to Miss May Van Gundy; her parents, William andElizabet h (Patten) Van Gundy, were residents of this county, whereher mother d ied in December, 1882. Dr. and Mrs. Walter have onechild. The Doctor i s achieving considerable of a reputation as asurgeon, and is meeting w ith admirable success in his professiongenerally; he has already estab lished a lucrative practice to whichhis strict attention to the duties o f his profession fully entitieshim; he is the Examining Physician for t he Royal Ar. canum and theLegion of Honor; is a member of the K. of P. a nd 1. 0. 0. F., and isVice President of the Wyandot County Agricultura l Society. Hepossesses the elements of good character, is industrious, e nergetic,and com. bines the qualities of the gentleman with those of t heprofessional to a most creditable degree."
